Born and bred on the Central California Coast, Hazel Iris (artist name of Kirstin Gerking-Rabach) made her way to the UK via Germany, where she studied Opera Performance.

Having found her way to London where she was first inspired to write her own songs, her music is strongly influenced by formats found in the traditions of Lieder and Folk. Writing, recording, and performing live under the artist name Hazel Iris, which she uses as a way of self-expression beyond the classical world, she first received radio play by Tom Robinson on BBC Introducing.

By using both traditional and electronic instrumentation to set the scene of each piece, her short compositions explore the world of storytelling and celebrate the craft of Art Songs.
